Will She Run Or Will She Stay?

It's likely that first thing in the morning Tonya Couch will be released from the Tarrant County jail. The question most folks have is 'will she run or stay and face justice?' I listened to some of the testimony at her bond hearing today and if you believe her son Steven McWilliams, Couch is one of the poorest people on Earth. Does anyone really believe that?

Maybe because of her past conduct with younger son Ethan Couch, I have a difficult time believing anything she or other members of her family have to say in a court-of-law. When she fled late last year with Ethan to Mexico to avoid him facing justice because of a parole violation, she told most folks exactly what she really thinks about the criminal justice system. I certainly hope she does not skip bail and leave the country again. But if she does I will not be surprised.

Crazy Like A Fox Or Mentally Ill?

Once again, Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel has disappeared. Texans are about evenly split as to whether Manziel is acting out in order to leave the Browns or mentally ill and in need of treatment. Personally, I believe he is the real deal when it comes to 'Affluenza' and probably needs many months of treatment to bring his personal narcissism back down to Earth. People who know his family in East Texas say that he was not raised in a normal way and you can take that anyway you might want to.

I do know Manziel was one heck of a great quarterback when he played for Texas A&M. And not unlike other great college quarterbacks he has not made a smooth transition to the NFL. I also believe that Manziel does not want to play for the Cleveland Browns anymore, so in child temper tantrum style he is acting out hoping against hope that Jerry Jones will make him a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Time will tell what is really going on with Johnny Manziel, but he certainly does need to grow up and act his age.

Why Did He Kill His Parents?

Police are trying to figure out why this man allegedly killed his parents. 40-year-old Stephen L. Scott was arrested yesterday after calling police to report their deaths. When law enforcement arrived they found 75-year-old Marion Scott and his 70-year-old wife Linda stabbed to death in their Lynhurst Lane home in Denton.

It is believed that some kind of family dispute occurred before the couple was murdered. It is believed that Stephen will be charged with capital murder in this case. The murder took place on Sunday afternoon between 2:00 – 3:00 pm. There are undoubtedly addition details available, which might be released by police in the days to come.

Is There A Way To Make Him Pay?

Most folks I know are ashamed when it comes to this whole soap opera involving Ethan Couch and his mother Toyna. In Texas we take great pride when it comes to equal and fair justice, but there is nothing to be proud about when it comes to the injustice that was perpetrated on the families of those four victims who died because Ethan made the choice to drive drunk. It's still difficult for me to believe that any sitting Texas judge would allow a defense of Affluenza when 4-people were killed in such a terrible way.

I've been trying to figure out how this young man will ever really face the justice he deserves for the crime he committed? Now, Ethan is in Mexico trying to use their laws to keep from spending another 120-days in a Texas jail. My gut tells me that sooner or later the 'chickens will come home to roost' for him and to just be patient. Even O.J. Simpson went to jail for years later on, even though it was not for the murders most folks believed he committed. The same thing might happen to Ethan, but in the meantime I hope another judge rules harshly when it comes time to sentence his mom Tonya Couch for the crimes she has committed.

Look Who Is Taking On The NFL

I thought Donald Trump had already insulted just about every group of people in the United States, but it turns out I was wrong. On Sunday night, speaking to a group of folks in Nevada, Trump said 'football has gotten soft.' It appears he is talking about the NFL, because he went on to say 'Dick Butkus, Lawrence Taylor and Ray Nitschke' play football during a time when it was exciting to watch. Alluding to the fact it was more fun to watch football back when players hit each other harder, which in many cases lead to injuries like concussions.

What the NFL and football have to do with running for President is something I don't understand, but that does not stop Donald Trump from putting his two cent in on just about every topic in the world today. Will Trump's comments about football hurt him with voters? Well, if the past has anything to do with the future. The answer will be a definite no. I can't wait to see who Trump insults next. More to come, I'm sure.
