Walking The Rural Texas Outback

Once you reach a certain age, the doctor is always on your back to get out and walk some. While that might not be as much fun in other states as it is in Texas, it's still good sound advice for better health. When I ran across the picture above on the Internet today, the first thought that came into my mind was how much enjoyment I would have taking a walk down those railroad tracks where Texas bluebonnets are growing in between the cross ties. Like many of you, I was born in this great country called Texas and have never lived anywhere else. I intend to print out this wonderful picture and hang it somewhere in my house. I get a relaxing feeling every time I glance at it.

Ready For Some Comal River Tubing?

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the Comal River in New Brunfels is the the shortest river in the world. It's only 3-miles long, but hundreds of thousands of Texans have made numerous trips down this stretch of water and most of them keep coming back for more. Maybe a constant water temperature of 72-degrees has something to do with it, especially during the hot summer months. The Comal River is spring fed and that is why the water is so cold, clean and clear. Only a few more months to go before this river will be booming again.

Night In State Capital of Austin

Some people love Austin, while others do not. However, when it comes to how our capital city appears in this image at night – it is amazing looking. Over the past three decades, Austin has grown from a mid-sized city to one approaching a population of one million people. What many folks around the country do not know is that Austin is one of the most liberal areas of the state of Texas. In fact, many local elected leaders have totally opposite views politically from the state leaders who work in and near the State Capital Building. Lots of huge companies call Austin home, but it is mainly known for it's politics and for the Longhorn football team from the University of Texas.

AT&T Stadium – Home Of The Cowboys

We are only a couple of weeks away for another Super Bowl and once again the Dallas Cowboys are not going to be in it. Most Cowboys fans have been extremely disappointed ever since Jerry Jones decided to fire Jimmy Johnson because of ego concerns. Since that happened, Jerry has gotten richer while Jimmy has become more famous. However, except for the next year after Jimmy Johnson left. The Dallas Cowboys have not come close to the domination they enjoyed back in the mid-1990's. As I have watched the Carolina Panthers during the 2015/2016 season, they have shown many of the great traits the Dallas Cowboys had back when Troy Aikman was the starting quarterback.

Magnificent El Paso View On Tramway

Thousands of people have enjoyed a fantastic view of East El Paso as they slowly climb up the Franklin Mountains on the Wyler Aerial Tramway. I must admit climbing up the side of a mountain this way is a bit nerve wracking for me, but it is a beautiful way to not only view these mountains up close, but much of the City of El Paso as well. By the time you reach the top, you have increased your elevation by 2600 feet. While there, visit the Ranger station and take in a 360 degree tour of El Paso.
