Will Tom Cruise (Maverick) Be In Top Gun 2?

One of the best films of all time will soon have a second part. Decades ago, millions of folks around the world lined up to put their money down to watch a great movie called 'Top Gun.' As the time nears for 'Top Gun 2' to be released, speculation has been rampant about whether or not Tom Cruise will star in this new flick. I personally think he will, but my guess is this new Top Gun movie will be more of a reboot rather than a continuation of the old plot. Let's face it, Tom Cruise is not as young as he was when the first movie was released.

High Lead Content In Texas Water

Like most folks I have watched in amazement as news spread about high lead content in the drinking water of Flint, Michigan. Now KXAN-TV in Austin is reporting that several water districts in the Lone Star State have shown high lead levels in drinking water. The TV station discovered that lead levels in drinking water in the following districts have been tested at levels above 15 parts per billion of lead. Those districts include: Garfield Water Supply Corporation, Lakeway Municipal Utility District, St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, Briarcreek Subdivision and Windermere Community. If you live in one of these water districts, please don't panic. Lead levels in the water supply do fluctuate between tests, but with all the negative news coming out of Michigan right now. We thought it might be a good idea to pass along this information to you.

Who Else Is Ready For Spring?

While I do not like the extremely high temperatures during Texas summers, winter is not a time I am fond of either. The time of year I like the best in Texas is during the spring. The air is usually very fresh during March, April and May and for most folks during these months. Bluebonnets are in full bloom and growing everywhere. Just one more month to go and some of that warmer weather and bluebonnets will be heading our way. I am so ready!

Man With Pot Steals Miley Cyrus Blow Up Doll

This has to be the strangest story of the day. Police in Corpus Christi have arrested 27-year-old Lawrence Roberts for possession of marijuana and while they were searching his belonging they found a life size blow up doll of singer Miley Cyrus. Shortly before Roberts' was stopped and found in possession of that Cyrus doll, a store in the area had called the police department and reported that one had been stolen from them. Strange, very strange.

He's Back (Ethan Couch)

Probably the most disliked man in Texas has arrived back in the state after being released by Mexico. Who could forget Ethan Couch? He's the young man who killed 4-people in a DWI accident and was able to get out of any serious jail time because his lawyer convinced a judge that he was too spoiled to know right from wrong. He arrived back in Texas this morning, so we will see what happens now.

20-Years-Ago Today Cowboys Won 5th Super Bowl

Since that Sunday, 20-years-ago, every Dallas Cowboys fan has learned to live with disappointment. Jimmy Johnson built one of the best football teams that ever played in the NFL and then owner Jerry Jones destroyed his hard work one piece at a time over the past two decades after firing him. It's hard to believe that thousands of young Texas college students have never seen the Dallas Cowboys win a Super Bowl game. What a shame.

39 Cents Per Gallon Yesterday In Sunray

Well, most Texans missed it but yesterday in the small Texas town of Sunray one Valero convenience store sold their gas for only 39 cents per gallon. Needless to say, they did not take out huge billboards advertising that price since it only lasted until 5pm. That said there was a long line of people there, some of whom waited quite a good length of time, to fill their tanks with gasoline. In the past couple of weeks I have seen 99 cent per gallon gas in Houston, but that does not hold a candle to 39 cents per gallon in Sunray on Wednesday.

30-Years Since Challenger Explosion

It certainly does not seem like 30-years since I woke up one morning to the news the Space Shuttle Challenger had exploded. It was a simpler time. There was no Internet, smart-phones or instant messaging. Instead, I got my news about this tragedy probably in the same way you did by turning on the television to one of the major broadcast networks. The first person I heard utter the words the Challenger was lost and all souls aboard were dead was Tom Brokaw. Lost in the Challenger explosion were: Teacher-in-Space payload specialist Sharon Christa McAuliffe; payload specialist Gregory Jarvis; and astronauts Judith A. Resnik, mission specialist; Francis R. (Dick) Scobee, mission commander; Ronald E. McNair, mission specialist; Mike J. Smith, pilot; and Ellison S. Onizuka, mission specialist. Like many other tragedies, most Texans know where they were and what they were doing when they first heard the news that the space shuttle Challenger was lost.

Look Who's Coming Back To Texas

I never thought I'd see this day, but it appears that some investors are preparing to bring Circuit City back to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The new stores will be small in comparison to the old ones and will look more like Radio Shack than Best Buy. According to news sources, the first new Circuit City will be located in Dallas and will have between 2000 and 4000 square feet. The exact day they will open for business in the Metroplex has yet to be released, but some time within the next 6-months would be likely.
