Will Trump Win Lone Star State Tuesday?

People everywhere are asking the same question. Will Donald Trump defeat native son Ted Cruz in the Texas GOP Primary on Tuesday? Right now, Cruz has the lead in the polls. But Trump is closing that gap quickly and he might end up victorious when all the votes are counted in a couple of days. I'm an older guy, but I can't remember an election season as bitter and divisive as this one. I told a friend the other day that elections in the United States are too long and that some kind of timetable needs to be placed on these candidates so all this mudslinging does not last for well over one year. Will Trump win in Texas on Tuesday. My opinion is yes.

Scalia Marfa Murdered Conspiracy Theories Begin

In so many ways our great nation is falling apart at the seams and in this kind of environment it should have been expected that some folks who believe evil is around every corner would also see conspiracy in the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. There is a 99.9% chance that Scalia died of natural causes in his sleep last weekend at a Texas ranch near Marfa. However, within hours of his death rumors started circulating on the Internet that he was murdered. Sadly, the decision by his family not to seek an autopsy of his body helped fuel this conspiracy speculation. I understand why Scalia's family did not want to have an autopsy preformed on his body, but that simple family request is now being twisted into theories that are taking on a life of their own.

His family has talked about the self-destructive behavior of football star Johnny Manziel and now fans and foes alike are wondering if Manziel might take his own life if proper treatment isn't mandated. It's clear that Manziel does not want help and under normal circumstances that would be fine. However, when a person poses danger to himself or others – someone needs to step in before it's too late. Reportedly, Manziel's girlfriend told police he threatened to kill her and then himself after a recent altercation. Isn't that enough to mandate some kind of mental health treatment for him?

Will Texans Play In Super Bowl 51 Houston?

This weekend, Super Bowl 50 will be played in San Francisco between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos. However, next year at this time Super Bowl 51 will take place in Houston and many Lone Star State folks would like to see either the Texans or the Dallas Cowboys be in that game. Right now the odds are great against either Texas NFL team playing in next year's Super Bowl, but there is always a chance at this stage of the game. First we must get through the spring and summer months to see what kind of draft choices are picked up by both teams. With the exception of Christmas, Super Bowl Sunday is without a doubt the biggest day of the year in the United States and it's high time for a Texas football team to represent this great state in that game.

America Needs Another John Wayne

When I was growing up in the 1960's and 1970's my father always took me to movies starring John Wayne. When I look at the world today, it's clear that this country needs another John Wayne. A strong man who always knew the difference between right and wrong was something we use to take for granted here in America. Today, it seems like what use to be right is now wrong and everything is falling apart. The last time John Wayne spoke to the American people was at the Oscars in 1978. I remember watching that live back then and still to this day miss the positive impact he had on all of us.

Do You Choose Uber Or Taxi?

I am curious and would like to get feedback from folks who have used the personal car service called Uber. I have seen ads for it for a long time, but never had the guts to try it. It's clear that traditional taxi companies do not like Uber and it seems like they are working overtime to put them out-of-business. Galveston and Midland have passed ordinances to try and put the same rules on Uber as other transportation companies, but in each case Uber made the decision to leave those cities instead of following the new rules. I wonder if Uber is just the latest 'flash in the pan' idea or will they be around for the long run? Comment below or via Facebook and Twitter.

Proud To Be Called A Texan

Many times when Texans turn on the television we get our feelings hurt when city slickers from New York or California made fun of the way we talk or think. I think it's important to remember that many times people put down others simply because they are don't understand them. It's pretty clear to me that most folks who are not from or have spent much time in Texas are completely clueless as to want being a Texan means to us. I think it's best just to shake our heads and continue to smile, because we know what makes the Lone Star State special and in the end that's all that really matters.
