It's Really About A Lack Of Respect On All Sides

Rodney King asked the question long ago “can't we all just get along” and while that might seem like a simplistic approach to life, in a strange way that's what it's going to take to get our great nation back to normal.

Whether it's a bad police officer slamming a suspect to the ground even when they are complying with instructions or a suspect insisting on being belligerent to a police officer while being treated kindly, what is at the heart of most of the problems in the world today is a lack of respect shown to others by everyone.

Maybe we should stop judging others who are different from us and just treat them kindly, when we disagree with their choices in life? I think most folks have walked around with chips on their shoulders for a long time, but for the most part they have kept those thoughts and feelings to themselves until social media came along.

Why don't we try to treat others with respect, even when their choices and actions are in direct conflict with our own? In the old days, Americans were able to disagree with the actions of others without feeling the need to get in their face and demand they change or else. The cure for our current problems is one simple word – R*E*S*P*E*C*T for everyone.

Police Officer Memorial In Dallas Keeps Growing

DALLAS TEXAS - To say I'm proud of the citizens of Dallas after they came under attack from a mad man on Thursday would be a huge understatement. Only a few days ago, a new survey claimed that residents there were some of the rudest in the nation. Fast forward a few days and no one is claiming that anymore. When the chips were down, Texans in Dallas stood up and are now proving to the world what the right way is to deal with hardship and tragedy in life. Just look at this Dallas Texas police car and the love hundreds of residents are showing to those dozen officers who were injured and killed just for doing their jobs. The thing I love the most about the state of Texas is the people who call this wonderful place home. Sure we've got a few bad apples just like everywhere else, but when Texans fall on hard times the rest of us tend to step up and do what it takes to help out our fellow friends, family, neighbors and yes police officers.

After Police Shootings Just Remember It's Always Darkest Before The Dawn

USA - For younger people, it may be difficult to watch what's going on in the world today and keep events in prospective. For those of us who have spent many decades on the Earth, we have witnessed bad times like these before and have lived to store those memories in the back of our minds. Whether it's horrifying images of terrorist beheading those they disagree with or seemingly innocent folks being gunned down by police officers while doing nothing wrong or innocent police officers being murdered in Dallas simply because of the uniform they wear. Back in the 1960's, when I was a young man, many people thought this great nation was falling apart back then as well. However, with time we came back and became a great nation again. Right now, the world around us is changing at a fast pace and the simplest fact of human nature states that people do not like change and will fight it at every turn. Just hang in there and remember that these terrible days will get better with time.
