Fire Department Called To Waco Whataburger


The Whataburger near Waco’s Richland Mall was closed for a short time Friday morning after smoke filled the building.

Firefighters were sent at around 7:55 a.m. to the Whataburger on Waco Drive at Loop 340 after a caller reported the building was filling with smoke.

When the first units arrived they found the employees and customers had evacuated the building.

Firefighters didn’t find a fire but did locate a failed blower motor that caused the smoke.

No one was injured and the restaurant had re-opened by about 9 a.m.
