Several states are now under a state of emergency as wildfires continue to engulf huge swatches of the Midwestern United States.
While whipping winds and dry conditions continue to fuel the flames, crews who have been battling the blazes in Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Kansas for nearly four days say they are making progress.
"These fires are so important that we take our time and have containment lines because of the strong winds behind it. They could easily jump containment lines. Crews are really being diligent and working hard to make sure that doesn't happen," said Like Kanclerz of the Northwest Oklahoma Fire Complex.
At least six people have already died from the fires, including four in the Texas grasslands, where fast moving flames torched their way across the prairie land.
