A man was killed in a rollover crash Wednesday on the city's Northwest Side that brought morning commute traffic on Interstate 10 East, in San Antonio, to a crawl for miles.
Police said the man was involved in a fender bender on Interstate 10 and Loop 1604 around 6 a.m., when he sped from the scene on the frontage road of I-10 until he crashed his Mercury Marquis near DeZavala Road.
"(He was traveling) at a high rate of speed. He was on the access road, lost control and rolled back onto the main highway and was hit by an additional vehicle," said Officer Loy Garcia, of the San Antonio Police Department.
Garcia said three additional accidents occurred when drivers drove over debris, which flattened their tires.
Traffic on Interstate 10 East, from Camp Bullis to DeZavala roads, was brought to a crawl for a few hours.
