Three people were arrested for numerous charges the night of March 2, 2017 after the Floydada Police Department served a search warrant with the assistance of the Floyd County Sheriff's Office.
Officers and deputies believed it was a high-risk warrant as the homeowner was prone to violence and was known to be armed with handguns.
During a disturbance investigation, police arrived at a residence in the 800 block of South Wall Street and attempted to speak with the occupants. When the police knocked and announced themselves, the occupants did not come to the door.
Instead, they yelled, "Come back later!" The officers could smell the distinct odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence while knocking on the door and returned with a search warrant.
During the course of the search, marijuana, crack cocaine, two handguns, approximately $1,500 in cash, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia were seized.
The homeowner, Juan Gonzales, and his wife, Erica Gonzales, were arrested and both were charged with Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free Zone, Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone, and six counts of Child Endangerment.
