Austin Police and Austin-Travis County EMS are on the scene of a pedestrian struck by a train in South Austin.
According to ATCEMS, the person, described as a female teen and later identified as a student by Austin ISD Police, has been transported to South Austin Medical Center with serious but not expected to be life threatening injuries. When crews found the teen girl, she was said to be conscious with injuries to her legs.
Union Pacific confirms the train is one of theirs, and say the girl was walking along the tracks prior to being clipped.
Austin Police say the train is now stopped in the W. Stassney and Rose Hill Circle area and is blocking the roadway near Crockett High School. Union Pacific says they need to wrap up the investigation first but the train should be moving soon.
