The Department of Public Safety has released the cause of the crash near Haskell that killed two college students.
State Troopers say Yancie Wade McCuistion, 19, of Sugar City, Colorado, ran the stop sign at Business 277 and Hwy 277 around 6:15 p.m. Saturday. His Dodge Ram 3500, which was hauling a horse trailer, was hit on the left side by a motor home headed south on Hwy 277.
McCuistion, a member of the Vernon College rodeo team, was pronounced dead at the scene.
One of his passengers, 19-year-old Vinita Jean Trevino, died Sunday at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, according to family members.
Two of McCuistion’s teammates, 20-year-old Drew Davis Hill of Canadian, Texas, and 20-year-old Jakob Todd Plummer of Petrolia, Texas, were injured.
Plummer is in critical condition. Hill is in good condition. Both are at Hendrick.
A friend of Hill’s family said Hill has a broken femur. He also said Plummer suffered a head injury. Source: KTXS
