DPS Trooper Saves Child From Choking


A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper helped save a baby's life on Thursday after stopping a vehicle for traffic violation in Brownsville, according to a news release.

Around 8:15 p.m., a DPS trooper pulled over a blue Nissan Versa on State Highway 4 and Billy Mitchell Boulevard for traffic violation.

When the vehicles stopped, the woman who was driving the Nissan Versa ran towards the trooper, and yelled that her baby was choking, according to the news release.

The trooper saw that an eight-month-old girl was turning blue, and took action to dislodge an obstruction in order for her to breathe.

Brownsville Emergency Medical Services was called to the scene to provide further treatment for the baby.

The baby was transported to a local hospital and is in good condition, according to the news release.
