Limestone County Judge, Daniel Burkeen, has been arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.
Burkeen was arrested in Mart Wednesday afternoon, according to Chief Paul Cardenas.
According to affidavit documents, at 2:11 p.m. a Mart police officer saw a white Chevy Impala driving on the 400 block of W. Texas Avenue with it's muffler and exhaust pipe dragging on the roadway.
After the officer tried pulling the car over, the driver turned down two different streets, eventually stopped, and got out of the car, the affidavit states.
After advising the man to get back in the car, the officer said the man was slurring his speech, and when the officer asked him what day it was he said an incorrect date, then said he had asthma, according the document.
The officer thought it might be a medical issue after the man, who was identified as Daniel Lee Burkeen, said he had asthma, but after continuing to talk to Burkeen the officer could smell alcohol coming from his person, the affidavit states.
After failing a field sobriety test, Burkeen was arrested on suspicion of DWI.
