Wind And High Tide Closed HWY 87 At 124

High tide and wind driven water periodically affected traffic on Highway 87 at Highway 124 Saturday morning. TxDOT spokesman Danny Perez tells KFDM the westbound lane was open and drivers on the eastbound side were periodically let through. Water receded by about 1 p.m. and normal traffic flow resumed, according to Perez.

TxDOT is working on a multi-million dollar project to raise Highway 87 to reduce the impact of water washing over the road. The agency has installed barricades as a temporary measure.
