A man and woman from Laredo are facing felony drug charges after they were busted with over $200,000 worth of cocaine during a traffic stop in Fayette County.
On Monday, Sgt. Randy Thumann and his K9 partner Lobos stopped a Chevrolet Impala on Interstate 10 at mile marker 658 at approximately 1:40 p.m. for a traffic violation.
Thumann suspected the duo was transporting drugs after they gave entirely different travel plans. Consent to search the vehicle was granted and Lobos conducted an exterior sweep. No narcotics were detected.
After further investigation, Thumann located approximately 5.4 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $245,000 taped to the female driver’s body.
