Texas State Technical College student Janette Curtis, 26, who died Wednesday evening after she was struck by a motorcycle driven by another student as she filled up her SUV, which had run out of gas, was a mother of three boys who wanted to enter the hospitality industry, the father of the children, Jackie Cupp, said Thursday.
Curtis was returning from a trip to the store Wednesday evening when her SUV ran out of gas near Purvis Street on the northbound Interstate 35 access road just south of the TSTC campus.
She was filling the tank from a gas can when the motorcycle struck her.
She suffered deep abdominal lacerations and pelvic injuries and was unconscious and not breathing when paramedics arrived, witnesses said.
She was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center, but did not survive her injuries.
