The family was there to go indoor skydiving.

The employee who made the impressive catch credits his skydiving training for his cat-like reflexes.

Should Obama Care Be Replaced Or Just Repealed?

President Trump tweeted early Friday that the repeal and replacement of former-President Obama’s health law is moving “fast,” after news reports indicated that Republicans are divided on how much of the law to repeal.

The Trump administration took steps Wednesday intended to calm jittery insurance companies and make tax compliance with former President Barack Obama's health law less burdensome for some people.

OBAMACARE IN 'DEATH SPIRAL,' AETNA CEO SAYS

But the changes could lead to policies with higher annual deductibles, according to the administration's own proposal. That seems to undercut President Donald Trump's assurance in a recent Washington Post interview that his plan would mean "lower numbers, much lower deductibles."

Texas Inmate Climbs Tall Basketball Goal

An East Texas inmate didn't score any points with a bizarre shot on a basketball goal in jail. Instead, Gustavo Zavala-Garcia got wrestled down by firefighters.

Zavala-Garcia climbed 18 feet to the top of scaffolding holding up a basketball goal at the Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas, on Feb. 17, 2017. And, there he sat for about two hours, as sheriff's deputies looked on. The inmate didn't respond to deputies who tried to talk him down.

So, a local store, Cindy's Balloons Party Store, donated a bounce house to put under the goal, in case Zavala-Garcia fell or jumped. But, Zavala-Garcia, who is awaiting trial for the slaying of 10-year-old Kayla Gomez in November 2016, did neither. He stayed put atop the goal post.

Firefighters climbed up and confronted him after about two hours, bringing the strange standoff to an end around 3:30 p.m.

Do You Support Ending Daylight Savings Time In Texas?

Could next month be the last time Texans have to change their clocks for daylight-saving time?

If state Rep. Dan Flynn has his way, it will be.

Flynn, R-Van, filed a bill to once and for all put an end to daylight-saving time in Texas — and finally leave all the clocks in Texas alone.

“I think it’s ridiculous,” Flynn said. “I see no reason to have it.

“It’s just one of those things.”

But time might be running out for Flynn’s proposal, which has prompted tens of thousands of Texans to text, call, email and write his office in support of his bill.

Since being named chair of the House Pensions Committee, Flynn said he needs to focus on the weighty issues facing the committee, rather than focusing on other high-interest issues such as exempting Texas from daylight-saving time.

NBA Joins NFL In Threatening Texas Over Bathroom Bill

The NBA has warned that Texas could be overlooked for future events because of a proposed "bathroom bill" targeting transgender people.

Texas Sized Barbeque Grills

The Texas legislation is similar to a North Carolina law that prompted the league to move the All-Star Game out of that state. It would require people to use bathrooms that correspond to the sex on their birth certificate.

NBA spokesman Mike Bass says an environment where people are treated "fairly and equally" weighs heavily in deciding host locations. The NBA first made the statement last week, and the NFL has issued similar warnings.

Students Will Be Detained Under New Texas Law

Opponents on campuses have been steeling themselves to keep battling a proposed anti-sanctuary bill since the Texas Senate passed the controversial measure last week.

Texas Sized Barbeque Grills

The bill seeks to compel state government officials, local government leaders and campus law enforcement officers to cooperate in the enforcement of federal immigration laws. Colleges' police forces would not be able to prevent officers from asking about arrestees' immigration status or keep them from communicating with immigration officials.

Campus police would also have to comply if a federal official asked them to hold a person while officials determined whether that person was in the United States without legal authorization. This shift could significantly curtail colleges' ability to avoid helping federal authorities with deportations.

The fact that the bill would cover campus police hits home for students, said Vanessa Rodriguez, a freshman at the University of Texas at Austin.

Teacher On Leave After Classroom Riddle

A Gatesville Intermediate School teacher was put on administrative leave Friday because of comments the teacher posted on a board in the classroom. According to a parent of a student, the 6th grade teacher wrote two riddles.

One said "Who or what climbs over the fence?" The answer was "Mexicans." The other said "Why can't orphans play baseball?" The answer was, "They don't know where home is."

In response, the district sent home the following statement to parents Friday afternoon.

"In our continuing effort to be transparent in our communication with our school community, I wanted to make you aware of a situation that was brought to our attention at Gatesville Intermediate School. The campus was made aware of an incident in a classroom where inappropriate comments were posted by a teacher. The District acted swiftly to make sure the comments were no longer posted in the classroom and the teacher was placed on administrative leave pending a complete investigation.

All of our campus and District administrators have been made aware of this situation. This is an unfortunate situation and I want you to be reassured that we addressed it immediately, as the District will not tolerate inappropriate comments of any sort. We apologize that this incident occurred."

Billy Kidd - Jesse James Arrested In Lubbock

It sounds like an old joke: Jesse James and Billy Kidd walk into a Texas bar and trouble ensues. Police in Lubbock most assuredly were not amused and insist it is all too real.

Officers say 22-year-old Jesse James Gomez and his 25-year-old brother, Billy Kidd Gomez, created quite a ruckus last week at Klusoz Martini Lounge in Lubbock, Texas.

The brothers were kicked out of the bar on Feb. 12, then stood in the street with a knife with a blade longer than five-and-a-half inches long, trying to incite a fight, police told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.

Pensions Continue For Convicted Texas Felons

Numerous former government officials convicted on corruption charges, ranging from a former Texas attorney general to local mayors and district clerks, are still eligible to collect lucrative public pensions.

More than two dozen former elected officials with prior felony convictions who are potentially collecting retirement payouts. They include former Attorney General Dan Morales, former state Rep. Joe Driver and the former sheriff of Hidalgo County, Lupe TreviƱo. State Rep. Dawnna Dukes, D-Austin, is facing felony abuse-of-office charges and could soon join the list.

But a veil of secrecy over the state and local pension systems in charge of the retirement payments makes it impossible to find out whether individual government employees-turned-convicts are receiving them or how much they receive.

Media Almost 100% In Favor Of Illegal Immigration

When you have a few minutes try this test. Open Google and search for “Ice Deportations in Texas” and scan down the hundreds of pages rendered and look for any news organization that wrote a story in favor of deporting illegal immigrants from the United States. My search only found a handful of pro deportation stories out of hundreds of listings.

Texas Sized Barbeque Grills

Either, Google is removing stories which are pro deportation or the mainstream media is almost 100% against enforcing the law when it comes to illegal immigration into the United States. My guess is that both Google and the mainstream media are very much in favor of allowing illegal immigration to continue unpunished in this country. However, I do not believe that opinion is shared by a majority of Texas residents.

How Many Voted Illegally In Texas?

Texas election officials have acknowledged that hundreds of people were allowed to bypass the state’s toughest-in-the-nation voter ID law and improperly cast ballots in the November presidential election by signing a sworn statement instead of showing a photo ID.

Texas Sized Barbeque Grills

The chief election officers in two of the state’s largest counties are now considering whether to refer cases to local prosecutors for potential perjury charges or violations of election law. Officials in many other areas say they will simply let the mistakes go, citing widespread confusion among poll workers and voters.

EDITORIAL: NFL v. Texas Bathroom Bill

Millions of Americans made the choice to stop watching NFL football games on television in 2016 after the league decided to allow it's players to not stand during the National Anthem. Now, the NFL is threatening to disallow future Super bowl games in the Lone Star State if state leaders refuse to allow trans gender people to use the bathroom of their choice. Who will win this fight?

In the end there may not be any winners, but one thing is for sure and that is the NFL will be the loser. The world is turning around quickly and the National Football League is on the wrong side of this change. Most Americans are sick and tired of being told that everything they have believed in their entire life is not only wrong, but somehow discriminatory toward other people.

Texas Sized Barbeque Grills

Texas is a huge football state and if law makers pass this new law that has the NFL so upset, within a matter of weeks more than a dozen other states will pass similar bills. If the NFL refuses to back down from their political interference in states rights, the whole league might just disappear in future years. The NFL needs to focus on football and keep their political agenda to themselves.
