Help Find Pharmacy Thief Darrel Glen Kees

Police are searching for a man they say has been robbing Texas pharmacies.

According to the office of Constable Ted Heap from Harris County, the man approached a pharmacy technician for a bottle of Hydrocodone at a CVS pharmacy at 3080 S. Fry Road in Katy. When asked if he had a prescription, the man responded by stating that he didn't need one and lifted up his shirt to display the gun in his waistband. He took the bottle and left.

The suspect, Darrel Glen Kees, has been charged with aggravated robbery. Authorities believe that Kees has been involved in the robbery of other pharmacies as well, including one in Bryan.

Bryan Police say the incident happened at the Walgreens located at 3312 E. 29th Street Saturday morning.

A man entered the pharmacy area of Walgreens. According to the office of Constable Ted Heap, the suspect asked for hydrocodone pills and sprayed the technician with Raid when she took too long.

The man fled in a vehicle that was located close to the scene.

The office of Constable Ted Heap stated that Kees was spotted by Bellmead Police on Friday and when the police tried to imitate a traffic stop, Kees got away after a short pursuit.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. Darbe at 281-492-3610. Source: KXXV

2017 Bluebonnet Forecast Looking Good

Current signs are pointing to an above average bluebonnet season for the Texas Hill Country. As we transitioned from El Nino to La Nina, winter temperatures returned to a more seasonably cooler normal, with a few weeks of very cold temperatures. We have also seen some precipitation over the last few weeks with many areas receiving three to four inches.

Last season was an average one, mainly due to the bluebonnets blooming at different rates. Many areas had mature flowers along with ones that were just beginning to bloom, and once those late bloomers got going, the early ones were gone. This was caused by unseasonably warm temperatures. In January 2016/December 2015 the coldest temperature reached was 31°F. This Winter we have seen temperatures dip down into the teens. A good cold snap is crucial for an above average bluebonnet season, and this year we got it. Barring any late extended hard freezes, I think this season will be better than last. Top 3 Tubing Rivers In Texas

The Comal River

If you’ve never been floating in Texas, the Comal is a great place to start. The float is extremely popular one and is only 3 miles long. The Comal is heavily shaded and part of the waters of the Comal feed the famous Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels. There are ample businesses that will provide you with a tube and a ride back to your car. The Rockin’ R and Texas Tubes are just two of the many great options for tubing trips down the Comal.

The Frio River

A little further West you’ll find the famed Frio River which is one of the most famous and undeniable favorites for floating in Texas. The river is very long, scenic, and as the name implies, muy frio (“frio” is Spanish for “cold”). Popular lodging and tubing near the Frio can be found in Garner State Park and Concan, Texas.

The Guadalupe River

The portion of the Guadalupe River that runs through the Texas Hill Country is quite possibly the most popular Texas tubing spot. Tubes, cabins and campsites can be found all through central Texas, from San Marcos, to New Braunfels, to Gruene and San Antonio. You can take a two hour float, a three hour float, or a six hour float. These are average times of course, because time seems to stand still when you’re floating the cool waters of the Guadalupe through the lush shade of the bald cypress trees that line its shores. Ibuprofen Increases Cardiac Arrest Risk?

There are calls for tighter restrictions on the sale of all over-the-counter painkillers in Australia after an international study found a significant link between ibuprofen use and cardiac arrest.

A 10-year Danish study of nearly 30,000 patients found the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including ibuprofen - commonly sold as Nurofen or Advil - was associated with a 31 per cent increased risk of a cardiac arrest.

"Allowing these drugs to be purchased without a prescription, and without any advice or restrictions, sends a message to the public that they must be safe," said the study's author Gunnar Gislason, professor of cardiology at Copenhagen University Hospital Gentofte in Denmark.

Researchers examined all out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients in Denmark between 2001 and 2010 using the nationwide Danish Cardiac Arrest Registry.

Data was collected on all redeemed prescriptions for NSAIDs from Danish pharmacies since 1995.

These included diclofenac, naproxen, ibuprofen, rofecoxib and celecoxib.

Out of the 28,947 patients, more than 3300 were treated with an NSAID up to 30 days before the event. Ibuprofen and diclofenac were the most commonly used NSAIDs.

The risk of cardiac arrest was greatest among those who used diclofenac (51 per cent), while ibuprofen was associated with a 31 per cent increased risk.

It's thought NSAIDs can cause constriction of arteries that control blood flow to the heart, blood clotting and a rise in blood pressure.

Chief medical officer at the Australian Heart Foundation, Garry Jennings, said the findings of this study support accumulating evidence that these drugs carry a real risk for the heart.

"In absolute terms this is a relatively small risk but it seems to be fairly real," Professor Jennings told AAP.

Despite this there is no need to panic, he added, as these drugs won't cause the ordinary person to just drop dead of a cardiac arrest because they only tend to aggravate the symptoms of those with heart disease.

"There is really no information which suggests that they can cause either a cardiac arrest or heart attack out of the blue. I think that is very unlikely," Professor Jennings said.

The concern is that not everyone knows they have a heart problem, he said. Source: SMH

Kids Find Bodies After Parents OD

According to police, a pilot and his wife died of an apparent fentanyl overdose in their Centerville home. Their children found them when they were getting ready for school.

Thursday morning, two of their children, ages 13 and 11, called 911 saying their father and mother were cold to the touch in their bedroom.

The Dayton Daily news reported the couple, 36-year-old Brian and 34-year-old Courtney Halye, died of an apparent drug overdose. It's been reported the couple died from a, "heroin-fentanyl related death."

Police said things like this generally don't happen in this quiet community.

Brian Halye was a pilot for Spirit Airlines, which operates out of the Cleveland-Akron Area, but does not operate at CVG.

FOX19 NOW has requested drug screening information from the airline. It's unclear if he had any type of drug history.

Airline Expert Jay Ratliff said drug tests are pretty standard and pilots can be tested at any time.

"Pilots are subjected to random drug tests, alcohol tests from the FAA. They do maybe 15,000 tests and maybe ten that fail those," he said.

Ratliff also said despite hearing this tragic story, you shouldn't feel unsafe the next time you fly.

2-Kids Shot Outside Chuck E. Cheese

Two children were accidentally shot outside of a Chuck E. Cheese, Fort Worth police say.

The shooting happened Friday afternoon just before 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Chuck E. Cheese on Southwest Loop 820.

Police say two 3-year-old boys came out of the Chuck E. Cheese and went to their SUV ahead of their parents. When the boys opened the door, they picked up a .380-caliber pistol that either fell out or was found in the side compartment.

The child who found the handgun accidentally shot himself in the hand, and the same bullet hit the other child in the back, a police spokesperson said.

Both of the kids were rushed to the hospital. One child had serious but non-life threatening injuries. The other child only had minor injuries.

Police say this is the second day in a row they've dealt with a case involving young children finding a gun and shooting it.
