High Speed Likely Cause Of Fatal Crash

The Department of Public Safety has released new information about a crash that took the life of a Jack C. Hays High School student Wednesday afternoon.

Brynn Aylor, age 16, died in a two-vehicle collision near the 2600 block of Jack C. Hays Trail near Buda.

According to the DPS, Aylor was driving north on FM2770, "possibly at a high rate of speed" before colliding with a 1998 Ford Expedition that was traveling south.

The preliminary investigation revealed Aylor's Mustang was passed by a vehicle, in a "No passing zone" just prior to a curve. The 16-year-old then lost control and while negotiating the curve, overcorrected, spun into the southbound traffic lane and was struck on the passenger side by the Expedition. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway.
