Teen Injured After Man Fired Shotgun

A homeowner tried to break up a crowd of teenagers by firing a gun into the air. One teen was hit.

Grapevine police said they were called to the neighborhood near Cross Timbers Middle School and Grapevine High School around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Witnesses said two groups of teens had gathered in the street outside 43-year-old Jason Marcum’s home. Marcum son was among the crowd, police said.

Police said he came out of his home with a shotgun and fired several times. A fragment hit a 17-year-old boy, sending him to the hospital.

“From what we hear from witnesses this is a homeowner who saw a group of people outside and tried to get them to leave,” said Amanda McNew, a spokeswoman for the Grapevine Police Department.

Marcum was taken into custody and charged with deadly conduct.
