Large Fire Burning In Big Bend National Park

Fire crews are continuing to battle a blaze at the Big Bend National Park, Spokes Person for the Park, Jennette Jurado, says the cause of the fire is still under investigation but it's suspected the fire was started over night by a lightning strike.

The fire is estimated to be more than 1,500acres.

Jurado explains, currently there is no immediate threat in the Chisos Mountains but evacuations are underway as a preventive measure. The Chisos Mountains Lodge has also chosen to evacuate both the lodge and restaurant. They are planning to stayed closed on Monday as well.

Roads near the Juniper Canyon area and the foothills of the Chisos Mountains have been closed along with trails.
