Names Of 3 People Killed In Crash Released

Investigators have released the names of three people killed Friday after a head-on car crash in Willacy County.

A Cadillac Escalade started driving against traffic Friday afternoon on U.S. 77 near Conley Road, according to information provided by Lt. Johnny Hernandez, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Cadillac hit a Ford Expedition head-on.

The driver of the Cadillac, 23-year-old Abraham Cerda of Brownsville, and both people in the Expedition, 72-year-old Rafael Garza and 69-year-old Catalina Garza of Port Isabel, died.

While the investigation remains ongoing, alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, according to the Department of Public Safety.
