San Antonio Firefighter Ryan Prather Fired

A San Antonio firefighter was fired in April, months after he was arrested on a felony drug possession charge, according to suspension paperwork obtained by the KSAT 12 Defenders.|

Ryan Prather was found Jan. 14 with more than 5 grams of methamphetamine, straws, paraphernalia baggies, glass pipes, a bong and a Smith and Wesson handgun after Boerne police pulled over his vehicle in the 1600 block of River Road, Boerne police spokesman Lt. Steve Perez said Thursday.

Prather, who was pulled over because his vehicle had an equipment failure, appeared nervous and had dilated pupils, Perez said.

Officers spoke with a female passenger, and after discovering that she was in possession of marijuana, they took her into custody.

Prather, who consented to a vehicle search, later admitted that the methamphetamine belonged to him, according to details of his arrest.

Prather was charged with possession of a controlled substance, unlawful carrying of a weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
