Abilene Man Killed By Deputies Serving Warrant

Emmett Edward Hall is now dead after he allegedly charged at Taylor County deputies while they attempted to serve a felony warrant Saturday night.

That's according to Hall's brother, who said the 60-year-old veteran suffered from paranoid schizophrenia and lived like a hermit.

Taylor County Sheriff Ricky Bishop said Saturday night that four of his patrol deputies were trying to serve a felony warrant for DWI with an accident around 10 p.m. at Hall's home in the 1500 block of Oldham Lane.

Bishop said Hall charged at them with a knife, and that at least one of the deputies shot him.

Hall's brother said the family took Hall off life support because he suffered severe damage from the gunshot, and he passed away at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday. A doctor told the family there wasn't much they could do for Hall.
