Tech Student At Large After Killing Police Officer Tonight In Lubbock

UPDATE: Suspect has been arrested.

Texas Tech University was placed on lockdown Monday night after a reported shooting.

Texas Tech Spokesperson Chris Cook says a campus police officer was making a welfare check on a student and found drugs and drug paraphernalia.

When the officer took the student to the police station, the student pulled out a gun and fatally shot the officer in the head, Cook confirmed.

The student ran away and is still at large, forcing the campus to go on lockdown.

The university tweeted around 8:30 p.m. for students to seek shelter after a reported shooting at the Texas Tech Police Department. They said the shooter was still at large. FOX4NEWS
