Texas Tech COP Killed Identified As Officer East In Witness Statement

A murder warrant obtained by LubbockOnline.com said East was filing booking paperwork for Daniels at computers in a briefing room.

A witness, identified in the warrant as Corporal Tyler Snelson, said Officer East and Daniels had their backs to each other as East filed the paperwork. Snelson said Daniels was not wearing handcuffs.

Snelson left the briefing room and heard a bang come from the room shortly after.

The warrant said he went back into the briefing room and found Officer East with a gunshot wound. Daniels had already ran from the room. Snelson said East's body camera was missing and his pistol was still in his holster.

Authorities began searching for Daniels and found him at City Bank Coliseum in the 2700 Drive of Champions. Police also found East's body camera and a loaded .45 caliber pistol in the area where Daniels was captured.

Daniels told officers who arrested him that "he was the one who shot their friend," the warrant said.

Daniels also told police that he did something "f****d up," and "something illogical."

Daniels is behind bars on a $5,000,000 bond. Online records do not list an attorney. KSAT
