New Law Allows Some Texans To Have DWI Record Sealed From Public

There is a new law in Texas that is more controversial than most. Now, some first time DWI offenders will be able to get their conviction sealed from the public record.

Here are the requirements:
  1. They can't have hurt anyone.
  2. The D.W.I. must be a misdemeanor.
  3. It must be the defendant's first D.W.I.
  4. Their blood alcohol level had to be less than .15.
  5. They cannot have any other convictions.
  6. They must wait at least two years after completion of their sentence to be eligible.

The final decision is made by a judge.
